The Utah Baroque Ensemble has sponsored the annual Student Scholarship Competition since 2009. This competition is open to all young vocal and instrumental artists who are residents of Utah County and in grades 9-12. Video auditions are accepted during February of each year and from these, a field of finalists is chosen to perform at a Competition Recital at the Orem Public Library which is open to the public. While all finalists receive a cash award, a panel of judges chooses one or two winners, who receive generous cash scholarships to aid in their further pursuit of music education. Each winner is then invited to perform at the Baroque Ensemble spring concert.
To assist students in preparing their auditions, the Ensemble also hosts a Master Class during February at minimal cost to students. This class is generally taught by master teachers from our local universities. The focus of the class is on developing proper Baroque musical style.
