Baroque Music Competition
The Utah Baroque Ensemble wishes to announce its 2009 Student Baroque Music Competition, sponsored by the Bank of American Fork and the Orem CARE program.

Competition Rules
- Students must be residents of Orem, Utah.
- Students must be junior high or high school age (grades 7-12).
- Students may attend public, private, charter, or home schools.
- Students must perform a solo composition of the Baroque Era, or one or more movements from a Baroque era piece. Transcriptions of Baroque-era composers are acceptable. Piano transcriptions are acceptable if they do not require a second pianist to accompany the soloist. Total performance time should not be more than 7 minutes. Instrumental, keyboard and vocal selections are all acceptable. Students must provide their own accompanists for the audition and the performance.
- The winning student(s) must be available to perform at the Baroque Ensemble concert in Orem on Sunday evening, April 26th, 2009.
- The $1,000 award may be awarded to one student or divided between winners at the discretion of the jury.
- The student will be judged on general musicianship and implementation of Baroque performance practice.
- The jury's decisions are final.
- The winning student(s) must agree to have their names, parents' names, and picture published in local newspapers. A short bio of the winning student may be printed in the concert program or published in the newspaper.
- The $1,000 award will be publicly presented at the spring UBE concert after the student's performance.
